Ο Μύλος του Καπτούνια
Kaptounia's Mill

In Meganisi, it is worth seeing the abandoned windmills, which in earlier times used to grind all day, and many times all night, the crops and fed people and cosmaki.

Most of them are on the heights around the port of Atherino, built in places where the liobori, pounente and levante winds find them. The mills were all private and usually took the nicknames of their owners, such as the mill of Bakola, Potsi or Hymos. One of them, Paliomylos, still stands tall, well built with stone, even though it is missing its roof.

In Meganisi there are still forty stone threshing mounds, remnants of the rural life of the place. One of them is the threshing floor of Konidaris.

There are also stone wells with circular terraces, made by skilled craftsmen. The Ferentinos well and the well-known Karamantani well are typical.
